The construction of the Memorial Center began in 2002 on P\u00e1va Street, outside of the traditional Jewish Quarter, which further emphasized the Memorial\u2019s national character.<\/p>\n<p>The Holocaust Memorial Center is one of the few state-founded institutions in the world that focuses entirely on Holocaust research and education.<\/p>\n<p>Visitors are welcomed into a unique space. The modern building is organically linked to the P\u00e1va Street Synagogue, an authentic venue that once used to be the second largest site for Jewish worship in Budapest.<\/p>\n<p>The institution is a center for scientific research, education, and culture. The Memorial Center offers visitors interactive permanent and temporary exhibitions, as well as museum educational and cultural programs.
