While touring the Holocaust Memorial Center\u2019s permanent exhibition titled \u201cFrom Deprivation of Rights to Genocide,\u201d visitors learn about the events of the Holocaust through interactive activities.<\/p>\n

During the guided tour, we present the Holocaust as a process. We place particular emphasis on the individuals involved in the story as human beings, and we examine the events from the perspectives of the victims, the perpetrators, the rescuers, and the silent bystanders. We highlight the everyday dilemmas faced by these individuals and the choices they made. We emphasize the question of the responsibility that comes with knowledge\u2014that is, what we, who know this story, can do to ensure it never happens again.<\/p>\n

GUIDED TOURS OF THE PERMANENT EXHIBITION:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Guided Tour<\/strong> (90\u2032)<\/p>\n

During the tour of the permanent exhibition, the docent guides the group through the exhibits and draws attention to key historical moments. Our goal is to engage students in the viewing experience, so many thought-provoking questions are posed throughout the tour.<\/p>\n

Age group: Ages 12 and up; 7th and 8th grade elementary school students; high school students; college students<\/p>\n

Jewish Quarter Tour<\/strong> (120′)<\/p>\n

Our Jewish Quarter Tour begins in front of the Doh\u00e1ny Street Synagogue. However, it does not include a guided tour of the synagogue itself. The tour provides an overview of the so-called synagogue triangle (Doh\u00e1ny Street Synagogue, Rumbach Street Synagogue and Kazinczy Street Syangogue), and tells the story of Budapest\u2019s Big Ghetto by visiting the Carl Lutz statue, the Klauz\u00e1l Square, the Kazinczy Street mikve, the Ghetto Wall Memorial, etc.<\/p>\n
