The Foundation for the Szeged Synagogue, the Holocaust Memorial Center in Budapest (HDKE), and the Austrian Cultural Forum, in cooperation with the Szeged and Novi Sad Jewish Communities, will stage a two-day a memorial event and conference on Holocaust research titled
\nRemembering the Holocaust in the 21st Century: Digital Pathways to Remembrance<\/strong>
\non 26-27 June, 2022.<\/p>\n

The event takes place within the frameworks of a research project supported by the Claims Conference and the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA).
\nContemporary digital approaches to Holocaust memory have been increasingly prevalent in the scientific discussion over the course of the past decades. While digital methods and approaches allow for new approaches and opportunities for preserving and respecting the memory of the victims of the Holocaust, and creating new pathways to scientific research, there are challenges evolving from the digital culture.\u00a0 The goal of the event is to allow for a fruitful discussion and exchange of scientific expertise in the field of Holocaust and (digital) memory studies via fresh, socially inclusive and digital approaches.\u00a0 In addition, the event seeks to establish a network of professionals, academics, and the (digital) audience to explore the potential futures of Holocaust research in Central and Eastern Europe. As a part of the event, a workshop will be organized on the fate of Jews deported from Szeged to and through Strasshof near Vienna.<\/p>\n

The workshop is part of a project funded by the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA), led by D\u00f3ra Pataricza, PhD (Szeged Jewish Community), organized jointly with the NGO Tikun (Novi Sad, Serbia) and the Holocaust Memorial Center in Budapest, supported by the Austrian Cultural Forum Budapest.<\/p>\n

\n\u25aa\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 service in the Szeged New Synagogue (10 J\u00f3sika St., Szeged)
\n\u25aa\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 discussion with the survivors at the ceremonial hall of the Szeged Jewish Community (20 Gutenberg St. Szeged),
\n\u25aa\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 walkthrough of the most important locations of the Holocaust in Szeged.<\/p>\n
