Founded in 2004, Romengo has performed in more than 30 countries on four continents, representing the Hungarian Ol\u00e1h Gypsy musical culture at the most prestigious world music festivals and concert halls. All three of their albums have been among the first albums in the world music charts. They demonstrate their musical vocation through the power of cooperation between their Gypsy and non-Gypsy compatriots, which is also reflected in the title of their first album; K\u00e9th\u00e1n\u00e9, which means: together in Gypsy.<\/p>\n

The main highlight of Romengo is undoubtedly the voice of Kossuth Prize and Womex Lifetime Achievement Award winner M\u00f3nika Lakatos, who received the Kossuth Prize in 2022 as the first Ol\u00e1h Gypsy \u2013 who also preserves traditions \u2013 and as a woman, which is a triply great honor. \u201cThe Kossuth Prize fills me with joy and pride as a Hungarian, an Ol\u00e1h Gypsy and a woman. This can be a good example for young people that it is worth persevering in what you love to do,\u201d the singer previously stated.<\/p>\n
