The Holocaust Memorial Center in Budapest and the WHISC – Women in the Holocaust International Study Center at the Moreshet Mordechai Anielevich Memorial, Givat Haviva, Israel,
are pleased to announce a Call for Papers for its International Conference on Women in the Holocaust. This year’s conference, titled:
Across Borders: Women in the Holocaust in Central and Eastern Europe: History, Arts, and Memory
The conference is dedicated to exploring the lives, actions, and legacies of Jewish, non-Jewish, and Roma women during the Holocaust and WWII through a multidisciplinary approach,
turning these women’s stories into a vivid, colorful mosaic. The conference aims to bring together historians, scholars of history, literature, arts, and Holocaust memory.
A special round table on the second day will focus on pedagogical approaches to teaching about women in the Holocaust.
The conference will take place on
November 11 – 12, 2026 in Budapest, Hungary at the Holocaust Memorial Center (H-1094 Budapest, 39 Páva St.)
The first day will feature 2-3 panels, while the second day will include one panel, a workshop, and a roundtable discussion. The conference will be conducted in English.
We welcome topic proposals that challenge both established and new interdisciplinary approaches to the study of the Holocaust and women’s history.
Scholars interested in participating in the conference should apply by 15th of April, 2026.
The cost of travel expenses and accommodation will be covered by the organizers.
Each proposal should include:
Title; Abstract (250 words in English); Short CV/Bio and affiliation (maximum 150 words)
