The Holocaust Documentation Center and Memorial Collection Public Foundation was established in 2002 by the Hungarian government as a legal successor of the Hungarian Auschwitz Foundation formed in 1990, relying on and broadening the more than a decade of professional work of its predecessor. The objective of the Public Foundation is research, presentation and teaching the history of Holocaust. The institution, located at 39 Páva Street, Budapest, is the first Holocaust Memorial Center in Central Europe founded by state. It is financed from the state budget, and fulfills its objectives in cooperation with institutions in Hungary and abroad, with the support of private persons.
