Memorial day:
The Parliament of the Republic of Hungary adopted a resolution in 2000 to declare April 16 the Day of the Victims of Hungarian Holocaust. The first commemorations took place in 2001.
Members of the Hungarian administration and law enforcement , collaborating with the occupying Nazi forces, started with establishing the first ghettos and internment camps in the Sub-Carpathian region of the contemporary Hungary. The Holocaust Memorial Center commemorates the victims of the national Holocaust every year by a ceremony and lighting candles at the Wall of the Victims. It also participates to the programs of other organizations, e.g. the torchlight procession by the March of the Living Foundation.
