The Holocaust Museum cordially invites you to a free concert by the
ROMENGO band
at the Páva Street Synagogue.
LOCATION:
1094 Budapest, 39 Páva Street
DATE:
September 17, 2025 8:00 PM
Founded in 2004, Romengo has performed in more than 30 countries on four continents, representing the Hungarian Oláh Gypsy musical culture at the most prestigious world music festivals and concert halls. All three of their albums have been among the first albums in the world music charts. They demonstrate their musical vocation through the power of cooperation between their Gypsy and non-Gypsy compatriots, which is also reflected in the title of their first album; Kétháné, which means: together in Gypsy.
The main highlight of Romengo is undoubtedly the voice of Kossuth Prize and Womex Lifetime Achievement Award winner Mónika Lakatos, who received the Kossuth Prize in 2022 as the first Oláh Gypsy – who also preserves traditions – and as a woman, which is a triply great honor. “The Kossuth Prize fills me with joy and pride as a Hungarian, an Oláh Gypsy and a woman. This can be a good example for young people that it is worth persevering in what you love to do,” the singer previously stated.
Participation in the event is free, but due to the limited number of seats, prior registration is required.
