Ambassador Gideon Behar, Director of the Israeli Foreign Ministry’s Department for Combating anti-Semitism visited the Holocaust Memorial Center on 1 December 2013. Prof. Dr. Szabolcs Szita, acting director of the institution guided ambassador Behar through the permanent exhibition and explained the historical background and particularities of the Holocaust in Hungary.
The visitor was briefed also on the preparations of marking the 70th anniversary of the Shoah in Hungary. Praising the exhibition, ambassador Behar expressed his support to the efforts of the Holocaust Memorial Center to uphold the memory of the victims of the Holocaust in Hungary and encouraged the institution to strengthen its cooperation with the relevant institutions and authorities in Israel.
