What are the authentic locations of the Holocaust in Hungary? How do we preserve them and how do they contribute to remembrance? How do we commemorate where locations have remained unmarked? These and similar exciting questions will be answered by Hungarian and foreign experts at an international conference organized by the Holocaust Memorial Center on 31 August and 1 September 2020.

By the conference titled “Authentic Sites and Holocaust Remembrance”, the Holocaust Memorial Center contributes to the implementation of an international project entitled “Holocaust, European Values and Local History” supported by the IHRA and the Visegrad Fund.
Please consult the program of the conference at the bottom of the page or open it from the attachment.

Simultaneous interpretation in Hungarian and English will be provided at the conference. In view of the epidemic, the following precautions will be taken to ensure the safety of the participants:

  • The number of participants in person was determined at the safe level, up to a maximum of 25 people;
  • Hand disinfection is mandatory upon arrival;
  • All participants are asked to make maximum use of face masks, whenever reasonable;
  • Please keep a safe distance throughout the event, including coffee breaks.

The full content of the conference can also be followed online. The channels of the broadcast and their contact details will be announced at a later date.

According to the travel restrictions in force in early August, the second day of the conference can only take place online. Registered participants will be notified if there are significant changes in this regard by the end of August that would allow for a mixed, offline/online setting for the day.

Please indicate your intention to participate (in person or online)  by 24 August 2020 at the e-mail address konferencia@hdke.hu or by phone +36 1 455 33 20.
