The “About them, without them, to us” moving exhibition provides a selection of photos from the Auschwitz Album, already staged by the Memorial Center, complemented with photos and documents depicting the history of the former Jewish population of the actual community where the panels are put on display. The unique photos of the Auschwitz Album capture the arrival of Hungarian Jewish groups from Sub-Carpathian area of contemporary Hungary to Auschwitz-Birkenau.
By displaying the 28 photos arranged in seven topics, with an input from the history of the local Jewish community, the Holocaust Memorial Center wish to commemorate the deportation of the Jewry from entire Hungary outside the capital.
Compilation of the material on local history is always done by local experts, which ensures application of unique considerations in gathering information and memories for the particular settlement.
By including the local history of the holocaust, the aim of the exhibition, as well as of the linked educational activities is to provide, a more direct and personal direct remembrance on the tragedy of the Holocaust. The “About them, without them, to us” moving exhibition is introduced by university and secondary school students to their peers. They are trained by the Holocaust Memorial Center. The Center calls on schools and other potential partners to arrange staging the exhibition at their localities.
