We are pleased to announce that the epidemiological situation and the provisions reflecting this will allow the Holocaust Memorial Center to reopen its doors to visitors from Tuesday, May 18, 2021.


Our exhibitions will be open again during the usual working hours, from Tuesday to Sunday, between 10 am and 6 pm:

  • From deprivation of rights to genocide – permanent exhibition; 
  • Tzores and Mazel Tov at Páva Street    – Everyday life and fresh starts – a story of a synagogue and its community – temporary exhibition in the gallery of the synagogue;
  • Holocaust in Art – Temporary Poster Exhibition by the Yad Vashem Institute in the Synagogue;
  • Memorial Mosaic – community-based chamber exhibition of photos and documents on Holocaust at the ticket office.

In addition to the exhibitions, other services provided by the Holocaust Memorial Center are also available: visiting the library, reporting victims’ names in person as well as research in the Center’s collection. To use these services, please register at least one day in advance at konyvtar@hdke.hu (for the library) and nevek@hdke.hu (for reporting names) For research, please coordinate the time of your visit with our colleagues at gyujtemeny@hdke.hu. The publications of the Holocaust Memorial Center are available for purchase at the ticket office without any prior consultation. 

The safety and health of our visitors remains the most important consideration for us. We therefore ask you to observe the basic safety rules during your visit, in particular the following: 

  • The institution can only be visited with a legally valid immunization certificate. This will be checked at the entrance by the security personnel. In addition, the Memorial Center may be visited by persons authorized to do so by a relevant decision of the government;  
  • Wearing face masks covering the mouth and nose is mandatory throughout the visit; 
  • On arrival, please disinfect your hands using the devices provided for this purpose; 
  •  Strive to maintain a safe distance from the other visitors throughout the visit; 
  • For your safety, the number of visitors that may stay at the Institution is limited at any given time. It may happen that a visitor may not enter immediately upon arrival to the entrance. In this case, please follow the instructions of the security personnel.
