Popper Vilma, egy modern zsidó nő 

Popper Vilma győri származású írónő. Apja, Popper Ármin harcolt az 1848-49-es szabadságharcban. Angolt és németet tanított a Győri Királyi Felsőbb Leányiskolában (mai Kazinczy Ferenc Gimnáziumban). Többféle műfajban alkotott: írt novellákat, meséket, elbeszéléseket, verseket. Műveinek többsége német nyelven jelent meg. Alapító tagja a helyi Kisfaludy Irodalmi Körnek. Szoros barátság fűzte Jászai Mari színésznőhöz, levelezést folytatott a kor több neves írójával.  1944-ben 88 évesen egyike a legidősebb győri mártíroknak. A háború után a Kossuth Lajos utca 14. számú egykori szülőházára emléktáblát helyeztek el.

Vilma Popper, a modern Jewish woman

Vilma Popper, writer from Győr. Her father, Ármin Popper, fought in the Hungarian War of Independence of 1848–49. She taught English and German at the Royal Higher Girls’ School of Győr (today the Kazinczy Ferenc Secondary School). She wrote in various genres, including short stories, fairy tales, narratives, and poems. Most of her works were published in German. She was a founding member of the local Kisfaludy Literary Circle. She had a close friendship with the actress Mari Jászai and corresponded with several prominent writers of her time. In 1944, at the age of 88, she became one of the oldest martyrs from Győr. After the war, a memorial plaque was placed on her former birthplace at 14 Kossuth Lajos Street.
