Mi a Memorbuch? 

A Memorbuchok a középkori német zsidó liturgikus hagyományokra, a keresztes háborúkban elszenvedett veszteségek közösségi gyászmunkáira építő modern jelenségek voltak 1945 után. A kiindulópontjuk a vészkorszak, céljuk a veszteségek nevesített dokumentálása és a maradék közösség megerősítése, s mint ilyeneknek, történeti perspektívájukat a vészkorszak pusztítása határozta meg, minden korábbi történeti jelenség értelmezését ennek rendelték alá. Végső soron a mártírológiákhoz hasonlóan zsidó szerzők tollából a zsidó közösségek tagjainak szóltak. A győri holokausztemlékmű Memorbuchja mártírok neveit tartalmazza.

What is a Memorbuch?

Memorbuchs were a modern phenomenon that emerged after 1945, drawing on medieval German Jewish liturgical traditions and the communal mourning rituals associated with the losses suffered during the Crusades. Their starting point was the Holocaust; their purpose was to document the losses by name and to strengthen the remaining community. As such, their historical perspective was defined by the destruction of the Holocaust, and the interpretation of all earlier historical phenomena was subordinated to this. Ultimately, like martyrologies, these works, written by Jewish authors, were addressed to members of Jewish communities. The Memorbuch at the Holocaust Memorial in Győr contains the names of the martyrs.
