The Újpest team triumphed with a fantastic finish, beating the Czech champions Slavia 5-1 in the first final match for the Central European Cup. Újpest’s opening goal was met with unanimous enthusiasm. The Újpest eleven performed splendidly.

A Ferencváros-Újpest Szent István kupadöntő mérkőzést 21 000 néző előtt játszották le az Elektromos Pályán. A nappali világítás mellett lezajlott első félidő nem hozott eredményt egyik küzdő félnek sem. A reflektorok fényénél játszott második félidőben az Újpest csapata ragadta magához a vezetést. A mérkőzést végül 2:1 arányban nyerte meg.

In the second half, played under the stadium’s floodlights, the Újpest team took the lead. The match ended with a 2-1 victory for Újpest.
