Hogyan vált Fischer Jedidja Gottlieb orthodox előfutárrá?

Az orthodox zsidó sajtó az 1890-es években fontosnak tartotta a példaértékű életutak felmutatását a szervezet történetében. Főként orthodox rabbik nekrológjaiban jelent meg ez a törekvés. Fischer Jedidja Gottlieb fehérvári rabbi az orthodox-neológ elkülönülés előképeként tűnt fel, aki az orthodox szervezet létrejötte előtt már megvalósította az orthodox különválást, helyben. Ezzel példát adott és később igazolta az elkülönülés szükségességét.

Az orthodox szervezet sajtójában így emlékeztek rá:

„Jámborsága, és később közmondásossá vált szerénysége általános csodálatot keltett. A nagy Chaszam Szajfernek kedvencze volt, aki a fiatal tudóshoz, ennek nősülése után egy dicsérettel teli levelet intézett, melyben méltatja az alig 19 éves tudósnak érdemeit és fényes jövőt jósol neki. „Ha e szent férfiu érdemeit teljes mértékben akarjuk méltányolni, akkor rég elmult időkbe kell visszanyulnunk, mivel az isteni tanok védelmében folytatott szent küzdelmei egy egész hosszu emberi életet ölelnek fel. Minden erejének és vagyonának feláldozásával küzdött községének akkori reformrabbija ellen és ő volt az első, ki már akkor az orthodox érzelmüek különválásának szükségességét hirdette. Nem nyugodott addig, míg czélját el nem érte, és ámbátor a hiveknek csak egy kis seregét tudta maga köré csoportositani, mégis sikerült nékie már negyven év előtt Székesfehérvárott egy-ó-zsidó szervezetü és ritusu orth. hitközséget alapitani. […] Hogy miképen sikerült ez neki, azt ma napság már elképzelni is alig tudjuk, mivel akkor állott a neológia virágjában, korlátlanul uralkodott valamennyi nagyobb városban és csak olyan tetterővel és kitartással lehetett azt véghez vinni, mint a minő felett Fischer Gottlieb rabbi z. cz. v. rendelkezett.”

How did Yedidyah Gottlieb Fischer become an orthodox forerunner?

In the 1890s, the Orthodox Jewish press considered it important to highlight the exemplary life stories in the past of the organization. It was mainly in the obituaries of Orthodox rabbis that this endeavour appeared. Rabbi Yedidya Gottlieb Fischer of Székesfehérvár stood out as a forerunner of Orthodox-Neologue separation, who had already implemented Orthodox separation locally before the establishment of the Orthodox organization. With this he set an example and at the same timelater also justified the need for separation.

In the press of the Orthodox organisation he was remembered in this way:

“His devoutness, and his proverbial modesty, was universally admired. He was a favourite of the great Chasam Sofer, who, after the young scholar’s marriage, addressed a letter full of praise to him, paying tribute to the merits of the scholar, who was barely 19 years old, and predicting a bright future for him. “

“If we are to fully appreciate the merits of this holy man, we must reach back to times long past, for his holy struggles in defence of the divine teachings span an exceptionally long human lifetime. He fought with all his strength and fortune against the Reform rabbi of his community at that time. He was the first to proclaim the necessity of the separation of those with orthodox sentiments. He did not rest until he had achieved his goal, although he was able to rally only a small groupof believers around him, he succeeded in founding an Orthodox congregation, with an ‘old- believing Jewish organization and rites, in Székesfehérvár forty years ago already. […] How he succeeded in doing this is now inconceivable, for the Reform organization was then in its heyday. It reigned supreme in all the larger cities, and could only such a feat could not be accomplished with anything less than the energy and perseverance of Rabbi Fischer Gottlieb z. cz. v."
