Miért öltöztek modern módon egyes talmudiskolai csoportképeken?
A makói Homonnai műteremben készült csoportkép a makói bóherekről, és egyes tanulók felismerhető portréi láthatóan eltérnek a jesíva-korú átlagos orthodox fiatalok és más talmudiskola-csoportképek öltözetétől. A nyakkendő, öltöny, kalap inkább felelt meg az amerikai divatnak, mint a vidéki magyar ruhaviseletnek. Az ilyen jellegű képek amerikai adománygyűjtésekhez készültek, a megszólított kivándorolt zsidók öltözködési ideáljaihoz igazodva.
Why do we see in some Talmudic school group photos Jews dressed in a modern way?
The group portrait of the Makó bohers, taken in the Homonnai studio in Makó, and the recognizable portraits of some of the students, are visibly different in terms of dressing to the average Orthodox yeshiva age youths and other Talmudic school group portraits. The tie, suit and hat were more in keeping with American fashion rather than with rural Hungarian habits. Such pictures were taken for American fund-raisers, in keeping with the dress ideals of the expatriate Jews addressed.
